Premiere Pro export: check the delivery file, not just the timeline

Prepare a Premiere Pro export around the destination’s requirements, then inspect picture, sound and the complete duration of the output.

Premiere Pro 2025 | Windows digital software product

A sequence playing correctly in the editor is only one part of delivery. When exporting from Premiere Pro 2025, start with the requirements of the platform or person receiving the file.

Write down the output specification

Record the intended dimensions, frame rate, duration, format, audio requirements and any captions. Adobe’s export reference explains that available settings vary with the selected format. A preset is a starting point that still needs to be checked against the brief.

If the destination provides an upload or delivery specification, keep it with the project. Avoid choosing settings solely because they worked for a different platform on the previous job.

Inspect a representative export

  1. Confirm the intended sequence and export range.
  2. Review the video, audio and caption settings that apply.
  3. Export a short sample containing difficult material such as motion, small text or a fade.
  4. Open the exported file outside the editing application.
  5. Check the final full-length output before uploading or sending it.

Review the beginning and end

Look for unintended black frames, an incomplete ending or audio that continues beyond the intended cut. Confirm that the title, logo and captions are the approved versions. Play the file with sound rather than checking only a thumbnail.

For a client delivery, use a filename that identifies the project, version and intended format. Keep the approved export separate from test renders so the wrong file is less likely to be selected.

Record the settings used for the issued file. If a correction is requested, that record helps you reproduce the same delivery characteristics while changing only the intended content.
