Choose a consistent label system
Decide whether labels use part names, reference numbers or another approved convention. Match that choice to the accompanying parts list or procedure. The illustration and the text should identify a component in the same way.
Corel DESIGNER provides callouts with and without leader lines, including different line segments and ends. Choose a style that stays readable at the final output size rather than selecting a different treatment for every component.
Review the drawing methodically
- Identify the components that actually need labels.
- Use one consistent numbering or naming convention.
- Place labels where they do not obscure important geometry.
- Check that each leader clearly identifies its intended object.
- Compare every label with the approved source list.
Check at the size people will use
A callout that is clear on a large monitor may be difficult to read in a printed manual. Inspect the illustration at its intended size and consider a separate detail view when the area is too dense.
For example, if three leaders appear to point to the same small assembly, adding more text may not solve the ambiguity. Rearranging the labels or using an enlarged detail can communicate the relationship more clearly.
Keep the illustration revision and the parts-list revision together. If the design changes, review both the labels and the underlying component references before issuing the next version. A visually tidy drawing still needs a factual check by the person responsible for the technical content.
